Hamburg 23.11.10

[DEUTSCH]

As we arrive in Hamburg it is sleeting. Or, what is the name? Drizzling? Snizzling? Anyway, quite nasty. The Hamburg o2 World looks strangely similar to the Colorline Arena. We meet Smudo in the car park, who lives in Hamburg and is just about to show the tour bus to his daughter. Apart from that, it is a hard day. We are worn out, but much filming and photographing is still to be done. In the evening, there are again many visitors. But it’s just not my day. I bunk off to slide into beddybies looking forward to Cologne’s Lanxess Arena. I am somewhat quite sure it will look very much like the Kölnarena……

Köln (Cologne) 24.11.10

[DEUTSCH]

We have arrived in Cologne, one of Fanta 4’s biggest strongholds. As I had suspected, the Lanxess Arena looks exactly like the Kölnarena and has the same location. Once again, the crew arrives late – the distance from Hamburg to Cologne is more than 400 kilometers. So, it’s 11 am when the trucks arrive in the hall. Everything is delayed, but we are used to it. In the meantime, the round stage exacts its toll every day.

I meet quite a few old friends from RTL’s editorial offices and we spend a nice evening. The Cologne audience starts Mexican waves even before the beginning of the show enticing the band to appear on the stage. It is around 10 pm when they do and the audience celebrates them up to the end in the unique Cologne way. The audience is absolutely enthusiastic. The happy nature of the people from the Rhineland holds true. After the show, we go as quickly as possible to our beloved Hyattbar on the “schälsick” – the “wrong side”, a Cologne expression for the neighbourhoods on the right side of the Rhine. And then, to bed. Tomorrow, there will be a break. So, there is the chance to go home and spend a night in one’s own bed. And then will come the finish in Bavaria: Munich, Nuremburg, and Würzburg. And then, we will be home and dry.
