I’m sure I have never read a more genuine portrayal of the nature of a real artist. These photographs reflect that wonderful gift. They capture poignancy both in the observed and observer. This could just as easily been an interview with a musician, a sculptor, or even the cave painters of pre-history, striving to express what they see. The passionate motivation is the same, but medium is film, his tool is a Leica. He is an artist of his time and place, but his photographs are timeless. Thank goodness there are people like this. We are all enriched by their work. I can’t wait to read part two!
