John Wright, whose “Chariot” image and making-of video is also featured on the Leica blog, is a top celebrity photographer who has had the likes of Lady Gaga, Ricky Gervais and Sir Paul McCartney stand in front of his camera and is acknowledged as the last photographer to have a portrait sitting with the late Michael Jackson.  His picture of Lily Allen dancing with panthers became one of the most talked about images of 2009, appearing on magazine covers across the world before eventually winning ‘Magazine Cover of the Year.’ His incredible composition – Artists of the Century – took ten months to shoot in 27 locations across three countries and featured 34 of the biggest names in popular music.

John has been working with the Leica team in London to help build exposure for the S-System alongside the UK professional photographic community. As part of the collaboration between John and Leica, photographers are able to experience the S-System first-hand through a series of activities including interviews and photographic sessions, exhibitions and workshops at the Leica Store Mayfair ‘Studio S’ and other UK studios. John also uses the camera for a number of high-profile shoots. In our latest Leica Portrait video, John explains what he likes about the S2.
