The relationship between people is determined by destiny, so it is between the camera and the photographer. My affection for Leica derives from the accumulation of time and its user-friendliness. It helps me to frame every instant in the “Jottings of Shanghai” and to elongate the life of pictures. The greatest pleasure after work for me is to capture all kinds of emotion, shades and instances with the Leica M. At that moment, I achieved freedom and released all my inspiration and passion.

“Leica is my eye to the world. It’s the most convenient camera for me to use. Photos by Leica cameras stand out among the others.”

Being a pioneering DJ musician stemming from Shanghai city, Ben Huang also takes the pleasure in both photography and vintage cars. His eyes on the composition of a photo and strong contrast among colors and shadows make his works even more interesting due to his musical background.

For me, music and photography is well connected. Photography extends to my music. Both are my narration of life. Wandering around the city I dwell in with a Leica M10, I recorded the changes taking place around me. In Beijing and Hongkong, I showed through the camera lens what the city had brought me, implying reflections on post-industrial society. The city is featured by the coexistence of elegance and vulgarity, of modernity and tradition. Though I used to reside in Beijing, the unique parts in my works, if any, are rooted in those special feelings offered by urban life, especially by the days when I exchanged inspirations with the pioneers of the music of China. Today, the subtle but perceptible emotion still lingers in my photos. Our souls are containers, waiting to be filled with the inspiration and fantastic experience of life!

As a keen observer, Huang Jing does well in exploring the circumstance with his Leica cameras. Coming into being from nothing, putting on no end, shivering in front of nothing, figuring out no way, looking down  upon nothing, leaving out no detail, cast eyes upon by nobody, restricted by no confinement, no matter what, it has neither color nor odor.

My hometown Chongqing is surrounded by the Yangtze River and Jialing River. Every time when night falls, people leave heavy work for their own lives. The night scenery swings between peace and enchantment, with shifting hues that are analogous to life. I enjoy the exploration of various natural spectacles and local customs, during which my Leica camera is good accompany. This time, I went back to my hometown Chonqing with my Leica M10. There, I took the majority of photos at night. As the old is giving way to the new in the city, it seems like a magical amusement park, enchanting all living creatures behind a veil of mist.
