Claire Yaffa: Thoughts of Poets, Philosophers and Dreamers, Chapter 36

Claire Yaffa took her first photograph 48 years ago when her son was 18 months old and it was the beginning of her journey, first as a mother, then as a photographer. She has worked extensively for The New York Times and Associated Press. Her photographs have appeared in countless influential publications and have been exhibited at major venues in the US and around the world.

Art and reflections: the thoughts and feelings of life, its beauty of light and the shadow. Which is the photograph? Which is the painting? What are the reflections? Who is the artist? The art or the reflection. Does it matter? A moment when one sees something to share.

A combination of images that are there for the beauty of light and shadow. The photographs of reflections are on the art I have collected over the years. I was drawn to the artists I admired. I wanted to create the same feeling I had when I viewed their art. In looking at them again and again, the images of reflection I saw intruded and yet added another dimension to the image of the artist, enhancing for me my feelings about the art that has become a part of me.
