René Burri: Leica Hall of Fame Award Winner 2013

On June 26, 2013, Dr. Andreas Kaufmann presented the Leica Hall of Fame Award 2013 to Swiss photographer René Burri in Zurich. In recognition for his work, Burri received a Leica M Monochrom. The body of the camera is engraved with the name of the award and the signature of the award winner. The prize is awarded to photographers who have rendered outstanding service to the Leica brand and to the genre of photography.

Burri, a member of Magnum Photos, is well-know and respected for his photos of major political, historical and cultural events and key figures of the second half of the 20th century. The above video shows a range of Burri’s work in Berlin from the years 1956-2005.

  • Congratulations! Just browsed through your (Rene’s) huge photo book with your outstanding color work at the office today. Wonderful.
Probably won’t be able to shoot that kind of work with the Monochrom, but it’s definitely well deserved 😉
